FESTIVAL SCHEDULE & DETAILS: 2013 Catalina Film Festival

Hosted on Los Angeles County’s famous and historic resort “island to the stars”, the CATALINA FILM FESTIVAL is one of the world’s premier film festivals!

Unlike any other film festival on the planet, this clear blue water sub-tropical island is right in Hollywood’s backyard. But it doesn’t just give its majestic beauty, it offers its rich iconic Hollywood history; where Charlie Chaplin and Cecil B. DeMille screened their “talkie” films in the world’s first-ever 1,184-seat theater designed just for sound movies, which is right underneath an illustrious 6000 capacity ballroom inside the world famous Avalon Casino building. Once home to Marilyn Monroe and her first husband, 30 years of Chicago Cubs' spring training (the reason sportscaster Ronald Reagan was discovered), vacation spot for Cary Grant, Clark Gable, Orson Welles, Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, Errol Flynn, Mickey Rooney, Winston Churchill, Jane Mansfield, and many more up to this day; this exotic island has been entertaining Hollywood’s elite for 100 years.

Screening venues will be located on different parts of the island, all within walking, biking and/or shuttle distance. Some venues will be setup for filmmakers, some for guest speakers, and of course, to screen various series of film categories.

Attractions on the island range from enjoying the clear blue-water beaches from a cabana, glass-bottom boat tours, zip-lines, world-class scuba-diving and snorkeling, hiking, camping, kayaking, para-sailing, wild-life bus tours, shopping, massage/spa, golf, miniature golf, botanical gardens, bike rentals, golf-cart rentals, and so much more...

Only 22 miles across the sea, there are numerous ferries that will take you from Los Angeles County, Orange County, and San Diego County, as well as, helicopter and airplane rides that take only 15 minutes from the mainland. Once on the island, you will feel like you left the United States of America for some exotic destination; but remember, you're still in Los Angeles County!
